October in Ibiza can surprise us with both breathtaking sunsets and occasional rainy days—but that doesn’t have to stop you.
As the rainy season arrives, autumn becomes the best time to enjoy dramatic sunsets, pleasant temperatures, and nearly empty beaches, while still offering plenty of activities to have a great time. Even so, rainy days happen, and having a solid Plan B is key to making the most of your holiday.
Charming villages like San Miguel or Santa Gertrudis, local craft shops, natural wonders like the Can Marçà Cave, and exploring Dalt Vila and the La Marina district are perfect choices for experiencing authentic Ibiza at a more relaxed pace.
1. Explore the Can Marçà Cave in Puerto de San Miguel
Both the coastal views and the guided underground tour are wonderful on rainy days. You don’t need to book in advance, though we do recommend wearing comfortable shoes to fully enjoy the walking tour. Immersing yourself in the island’s culture and history is the perfect way to wait out the heaviest rain before moving on to your next activity. Visit the official Can Marçà Cave website for more information.

2. Turn Ibiza’s local gastronomy into an activity
What if we make lunch the main event? Enjoying a relaxed mid-day meal featuring local island products gives you that chance. Located right next to San Miguel Park apartments, Can Tothom restaurant offers the best views of Puerto de San Miguel along with an international menu with Ibizan touches. Upon request, you can try traditional dishes such as bullit de peix (fish stew) or arroz de matanzas (local meat rice dish). If you prefer to improvise, they also serve excellent seafood paella or huevos rotos with authentic sobrasada.

3. Stroll through Dalt Vila and La Marina District
Ibiza Town can get busier on rainy days, but it remains a great option for ducking into boutique shops or taking your time over coffee on a cozy covered terrace.
4. Discover local crafts in inland villages (Santa Gertrudis & San Miguel)
If you prefer not to visit Ibiza Town, simply head to one of the inland villages. Santa Gertrudis, located right in the heart of the island, features a charming selection of craft stores and clothing boutiques where you can shelter from the rain and pick up unique souvenirs.

5. The art of simply slowing down
Simply slowing down is probably the most underrated plan of all. A quiet morning in your apartment, a hearty breakfast, reading, relaxing, taking a walk when the rain clears, and wrapping up the day watching the changing scenery from your terrace. Sometimes, holidays are all about having no plan at all.
